KITCHENS ARE MIRACLE!

WHY THEY FEED MORE THAN JUST OUR TUMMIES. KITCHENS HAVE SOUL.

Mom used to say, “The kitchen is the soul of our house.” How right she was! A recent Houzz survey revealed we spend 12% of our lives in that one room! We did our homework there. Family updates (ok gossip) were shared over a cup of coffee near the stove. We cooked there, ate there and certainly spent a great deal of time in that key household environment. Perhaps you’ve experienced much of the same.

THEY HELP US STAY HEALTHY

Kitchens impact family health too. According to The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University, kids and teens who share family dinners three times per week:

·      Are less likely to be overweight

·      Are more likely to eat healthy food

·      Perform better academically

·      Are less likely to engage in risky behaviors (drugs, alcohol, sexual activity)

·      Have better relationships with their parents

I’m convinced, it’s the soul of a home.

THEY’RE TERRIFIC INVESTMENTS

There’s no reason a little soul can’t be profitable. HGTV reports that

“In the hottest housing markets, springing for a kitchen or bath remodel is a sure-fire investment, often returning more than 100% of the cost. In Baltimore, for instance, a $9,400 bathroom remodel recouped 182% of its cost at resale, according to Remodeling’s 2004 study. The markets in Washington, D.C., Minneapolis, Chicago, Atlanta, San Francisco and San Diego also offered triple-digit returns on a bathroom remodel.”

Investopedia agrees. Two of their top 10 projects for investment recovery are
